I miss “vintage” anime artstyles, it was plain and simple back then but nowadays all i see is a woman who’s supposedly 1000yrs old looking like she’s 12 or women/girls having such unrealistic body shapes i.e boobs being bigger than their whole damn head and looking like it would snap their spine in half irl, also waists so tiny you wonder if they even have all their organs intact. Boobs DON’T have to jiggle with every step you take pls i’m begging for some normal fucking animation here
Like these two characters are roughly around the same age what’s going on
Let’s talk about the anime that have been on air long enough to have started off seemingly appeasing / logical that have become overdeveloped, eye sore mess:
Would you believe she is the same character and the same age as her first appearance?!
Absolutely bewildering.
Older animation aside from better [female] character design was also appeasing. Unlike what we get now.
Don’t even get me started on the loli’s. Just what the fuck.
You do realize that both the examples you pointed out at the end were after TIME SKIPS, right?
Fucking and?
What do you think every girl on earth goes from being a 15yo teenager to being a 17yo pornographic caricature of a woman?
Puberty can be weird like that.
Puberty can be very weird! But at no time is it going to give a pubescent female the swollen and engorged breasts of a lactating mother.
How convenient that puberty in anime seems to coincide with gigantic spherical tatas.
you have a fuckin stylized picture of a damn womb as your profile pic and you’re a self confessed radfem, your opinion is worth like 0.000001 of a normal person’s
Using One Piece as an example isn’t really good to begin with lol its massively stylised from the start and idk jack shit about bleach either way at the end of the day getting bent out of shape over anime tiddies is pretty pathetic
Yeah and also lets not pretend that older animes didn’t have big titty bitches
all were made during the 1990s. Whether you or anyone else likes them is another matter entirely, but to look back during that decade with rose-tinted glasses and claim that it was somewhat more tame (or, from the sound of it, puritanical), is to erase any and all achievements that were made on these series, and the impact they had on people’s lives. But let us assume that massive
mammaries
made headway after the 1990s, or whenever? So what? Are we to assume that only men like looking at (admittedly subjectively) pretty designs? Are men the only ones creating these characters? Are we going to somewhat shame any fictional character that have a body type that we do not like, which, I have been told time and again, amounts to bodyshaming women in real life? And regardless of however you answer any of those questions, would the character designs truly detract from the story that is presented?
Y'all notice how whenever people pull the “older 90s anime didn’t focus on sexing up teenage girls” shtick they conveniently ignore sailor moon, a very popular series in the 90s that involved high schoolers and intentionally explored risque sexual themes including gay and lesbian relationships and crossdressers at a young age? The series that had THAT transformation scene every episode?
Yeah it’s kinda weird how this series is ignored, or if it’s not they’d say this one was okay because progressiveness? That’s just a prediction on my part though.
Sailor moon was one of the specific examples the OP used.
This transformation? You think this is sexually objectifying?
Also, I believe part OPs point was back in the 90s the oversexualization of women/teenage girls was rare enough to not worth mentioning but anime now a days has it everywhere.
And look, all those examples above are of ADULT characters. And the conversation about objectifying ADULT characters is and should be a VERY DIFFERENT conversation than objectifying underage characters.
